Parenting teens is one of the hardest things mums & dads have to tackle.
Raising teenagers is not as physically demanding as the early years unless you are playing touch rugby!
But demanding emotionally?
You better believe it.
As a dad who once had teens (no I didn’t kill them, they just grew up!) here’s some tips for parents with teenagers in the home:
Major on the majors
Namely their friends, values, sexuality & drugs, not messy rooms, weird hairstyles & music genres you wouldn’t listen to for love or money.
When being taxi mum/dad turn off the radio (it’s your car) & chat away – they will be listening even if the look says otherwise. Life can get frenetic. Busy days rush into other busy days & before we know it we’re neglecting the important conversations. So slow down the rush & start talking.
Laugh … often
You will eventually laugh about these things one day so you might as well get in early.
